3 Hour Nearshore Fishing Charter

Fins and Family Fishing's Three Hour Nearshore Fishing Charters feature a fun family fishing experience within about 3 miles of the beaches of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. Nearshore fishing styles are very similar to those on our offshore fishing charters and include bottom fishing, casting and jigging lures, flat lining live and dead baits, and trolling spoons and plugs. Species we catch change with the seasons but often include fish such as small Snapper, Mackerel, Jacks, Bluefish, Bonita, and occasionally Sharks.
Light tackle bottom fishing is one our favorite nearshore fishing styles. We bottom fish year round and often catch beautiful and hard fighting species like Red Snapper and Triggerfish. While these fish do have great food value, nearshore fishing charters do not always catch fish that meet the legal size requirements due to the water depth we are fishing in. If your primary goal is to keep legal Red Snapper or Triggerfish then the offshore fishing charter will offer more opportunity for harvest.
Another style of fishing we enjoy sharing with our anglers is fishing flat lines. Flat lining features a heavy tackle approach and focuses on hooking up a live or dead bait and allowing it to float or swim free in the current. Flat lines can only be fished with smaller groups and if the wind and current are generally running the same direction but when we can do it the results are usually amazing. We often catch Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Bonita, Red Snapper, Sharks and more. Many times the largest Red Snapper or King Mackerel we catch on a nearshore fishing charter will be caught on a flat line.
Nearshore fishing charters can also include casting jigs and artificial lures, and trolling. When trolling we cruise nearshore waters pulling spoons, plugs and lures behind the boat at a constant low rate of speed. We often catch for awesome saltwater species such as Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Bonita, Redfish, and more. When we get a strike and the rod bounces, the adrenaline starts pumping, and the fight begins.
Our nearshore fishing techniques are used to fish over reefs and wrecks, near bridges and passes, along jetties, and in the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The techniques we recommend for each group vary based on the time of year, number of anglers aboard, and the overall skill level of our guests. Active styles such as casting and jigging and flat lines are best for small groups while trolling and bottom fishing, are best for up to four anglers.
4 Hour Nearshore Fishing Charter

Our Four Hour Nearshore Fishing Charter is the longest nearshore trip we offer. Great for vacationing families our nearshore fishing charters offer a fun family fishing experience up to about three miles offshore. Nearshore fishing styles are very similar to those on our long offshore fishing charters and include bottom fishing, casting and jigging lures, flat lining live and dead baits, and trolling spoons and plugs. Species we catch change with the seasons but often include fish such as Red Snapper, Spanish and King Mackerel, Jacks, Bluefish, Bonita, and even Sharks.
